Diagnostic
Testing
At
Rose
Private
School,
LLC
we
use
a
two
part
diagnostic
assessment
based
on
formal
and
informal
testing.
The
measure
we
use
for
formal
assessment
is
the
Woodcock-Johnson
III
(WJ
III,
Woodcock,
McGrew,
&
Mather,
2001a.)
The
WJ
III
is a
norm-referenced
test
designed
to
measure
processing
abilities
and
academic
achievement.
This
assessment
is
composed
of
two
instruments;
the
Woodcock-Johnson
III
Tests
of
Cognitive
Ability
(WJ
III
COG),
and
the
Woodcock-Johnson
III
Tests
of
Achievement
(WJ
III
ACH.)
The
WJ
III
reports
age/grade
and
standard
score/percentile
rank
profiles.
We
use
several
informal
measures,
including;
parent
interview,
student
interview,
and
a
brief
assessment
of
student’s
academic
skills
with
written
expression,
spelling,
reading
skills,
and
math
abilities.
It
should
be
noted
that
diagnostic
assessment
can
be
impacted
by
motivation,
focus,
and
processing
skills.
